Professional Dog Groomer at Your Service

About Me

The Purple Poodle Pooch Parlour is a home-based dog grooming business I started in Ocean Beach, Western Australia in February 2019. I specialise in poodles, but I also groom all breeds of dogs and can do breed-specific trims, and pet trims in a customer’s desired length. All dogs are groomed one-on-one in a stress-free environment and are handled with the love and care they deserve.

I have been grooming dogs since 2001. I was trained at the W.A. Dog Grooming and Clipping Academy in Kelmscott, Perth. Since then, I have been updating my skills regularly by attending seminars and workshops.

After my training, I started working at Kingsway Vets in Madeley 2 days a week. I was then offered a job to groom at the academy 4 days a week.

After 2 years, I left the vet surgery to start up my own mobile dog grooming business called Shell's Pooch Pampering Service. Most of my clients then were repeat customers, and new clients are referred to me by local veterinarians or regular customers. After another year, I went out full time by myself.

In 2009, I decided I no longer wanted to work mobile and continued my business in a home-based salon. In 2018, my husband was offered a job as a doctor in a GP surgery in Denmark, Western Australia. We have always loved Denmark and have been coming down here for holidays almost every year since our honeymoon in 2007.

I have always loved animals all my life, especially dogs. My husband and I have three dogs of our own: a bullmastiff called Abby, a black standard poodle called Ruben, and a white standard poodle named Jasmine. Poodles, especially standard poodles, are my favourite breed.

Ruben and I have competed in many grooming competitions, including those formerly held at the Perth Royal Show. I have won many awards, such as the Best in Show and State Champion at the 2016 Perth Royal Show.

I was then invited to compete at the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show against other state champions. I was up against some amazing competitors. Unfortunately, I didn't place, but it was a great experience just to compete.
